The 2019-2020 school year at the Steepletown Preschool started out like any other. In the fall we danced and sang the night away at our preschool Fall Dance, the four year old classroom parents competed against the two and three year old classroom parents in our annual parent/staff basketball game (and won!), and we celebrated March is Reading Month with spirit week. We could never have guessed other events that would take place this year that proved to be a bit more challenging. In February we said good-bye to Mr. Ben as the Director and hello to Ms. Meredith, who was then the lead teacher in the Early HeadStart classroom. And in March we moved to virtual learning with the rest of the State.
While this school year has come to an end in a way we could have never predicted, the teachers have still worked hard to make sure students continued to receive quality learning. Through video calls, texts, emails, YouTube videos, packages delivered and even a few “social distancing” visits, the children continued learning and connecting with their teachers. To replace our usual graduation ceremony for the four year-olds, staff worked together to create fun gift baskets for the children and hand delivered them on the last day of school. The children were excited to see their teachers and play with all the new materials in their baskets! We know all our students will be successful as they continue to grow and learn in the many years to come!
